Undated. C. 1900. Must be after 1898, as this date is mentioned in the text. Red pictorial boards with oval colour inset. Cloth covered boards. 24.5cm tall, 19cm wide, 3cm thick. Numerated in 3 parts of around 90 pages each part. Illustrated throughout with b/w drawings. Telling stories of the courage of the British in various conflicts in foreign countries, from 1700s to 1900. Writers include Dr. Gordon-Staples, Emily S. Holt, G. Stebbing, W.C. Metcalfe, E. Everett-Green, Duncan McClaren, L. Taylor, L.E. Guernsey.
Still a very rare book, providing a fascinating insight into how British conflicts were portrayed to young men. This is actual real, unadulterated social history. Maybe someone would like to re-bind this book.
